2014-2015 STONE HiGH LADY 'CAT SOCCER TEAM
By Jodg O'Hara
Entering her first year
as head coach of the
Stone High girls' soccer
team, Tina Monroe was
feeling a bit nervous.
"I didn't play soccer, I
was a softball and track
person," she said.
She must have learned
something in her four
years as an assistant
under longtime coach
Jamie Pittman.
Her Lady 'Cats went 1-
0-2 Saturday to claim
the championship of the
Tomcat Classic.
Kaitlyn Harwell regis-
tered a hat trick as the
Lady 'Cats shut out
D'Iberville 3-0 to open
the tournament,
They would not score
any more goals on the
day, but perhaps more
importantly, didn't
allow any goals either.
They played both
Vancleave and Pearl
River Central to o-o
ties, ultimately earning
the title on the basis of
Harwell's three goals.
Monroe
had talked
before the
tourna-
ment of a
need to fin-
ish on
offense and
said that
was still
going to be
a priority.
"We con-
trolled the
games,"
she said.
"We kept
the ball in
the opponents end most
of the day, we just
able put tt ttt
the goal."
So dominant was the
Stone attack, goalkeeper
Haley Cobb only faced
two shots all day and
both of those came in
the victory over
D'Iberville.

Pittman's tutelage was
