YPI Applications Available The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks is accepting applications through August 15, for the Youth Participation hfitiative. The YPI was established to provide funding for the purpose of educating youth in areas of hunting, fishing, out- door recreation and natural resource conservation. Book Signing Hester Bass will hold a book signing event for her book, "The Secret World of Walter Anderson!" at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 2o at the Stone County Library in Wiggins. The public is invited. Baseball Showcase Players can show off their skills to the MGCCC baseball coaching staff at a showcase camp set for Saturday, Sept. ]2. The event, at Ken "Curly" Farris Field in Perkinston, will be for players in 9th through 12th grades. Fall Instructional League MGCCC will host a 2o15 Fall Instructional league beginning Tuesday, Sept 29. The league is for play- ers in 9th - 12tll grades and will be open to the first 6o applicants. Child Development Screening The Early Years Network: Special Needs program will host a free Developmental Screening Day 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Tuesday, August 18. A team of early child- hood specialists with the network's special needs program will conduct screening at the Petal School District Center for Families and Children, 2Ol W. Central Ave., Petal. Exercise Class The Strong Bones, Strong Women exercise classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Wiggins at the Stone County Rehab Center at 9am and at the McHenry Community Building in McHenry at lO:3oam. The classes are for osteoporosis preven- tion and muscle strengthening. All proceeds from the event will go to the museum. As in the past, the evening will feature dinner, an auc- tion and musical entertainment Dulcimer Classes Mountain dulcimers are very easy to learn to play and instruments and free lessons are available in Stone County. Pine Hill Dulcimers meet 6pm-8pm on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at Wiggins Presbyterian Church. Visitors are wel- come. Auction Items Needed The Old Firehouse Museum's volunteers are requesting the help of the citizen's of Wiggins and Stone County to provide interesting and unique items for this year's auction during the museum's 3rd annual Evening on Pine Hill. Donations will be accepted on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., August 19 - Oct. 1. Junior Livestock Meeting A Junior Livestock meeting for children interested in showing livestock this year in Stone County will be held Thursday, August 13.
